Leading integrator IDNS have recently completed the final piece of the 5-year £180milion development at the University of Bedfordshire. Set out over four-storeys and incorporating 6000m2 of teaching and laboratory space, the new STEM building at its Luton Campus focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects.

It also includes a new Science and Engineering Outreach Centre to promote the value of science and engineering to local schools and the wider Bedfordshire community.

The attention grabber of the new STEM building is its seamless LED external and internal signage which has been designed and delivered by IDNS. Mujib Rahman, Desktop & Media Services Manager for the University explains:

“We wanted something that would attract new local talent to the university at the same time as promoting special causes and events we’re doing. We also wanted something bold in the reception area, something that has the wow factor when you first see it.”

The external signage provided by IDNS features a full-colour HD digiTILE system. This new generation of LED tiles each have a tiny 60mm depth and can be swiftly assembled onto any magnetic surface in any shape or size.  IDNS completed a stunning 12m high by 1.5m wide LED screen, providing blistering HD quality both in performance and colour technology and acts as a focal point to the new modern structure.

Just inside the new STEM building, visitors are greeted by 4m wide by 1.6m high digiTHIN HD LED video screen. The digiThin tiles are a bezel free panel display system with a chassis that measures just 52mm. IDNS also provided digital signage on each of the floors in the breakout areas throughout the STEM Building.

Speaking about the completed work Mujib said:

“It’s been a fantastic journey working with IDNS on these screens. The feedback we have had from staff and visitors has been great. Everyone is really impressed with the quality of the displays. The flush fitting of both screens means they’re aesthetically pleasing and add a striking emphasis to the new STEM building.”
