Marsden Heights Community College

Marsden Heights Community College has undergone several changes since being marked ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted.

No longer failing and now becoming part of United Learning Trust, the school continues to improve, with ICT facilities being a top priority.

“The school is ten years old and the ICT had been carefully kept and looked after, but it was at a point where we were beginning to see things failing quite dramatically in terms of interactive technology.”

Looking to kit out the whole school with 44 interactive touchscreens, IDNS were brought on-board.

The goal was to maximise efficiency with a quality product while providing consistency for staff and students explains IT Manager Luke:

“We had a variety of interactive touchscreens provided by IDNS to allow us to test and trial which one worked best for us. We brought in different groups of staff on an inset day and let them have a play with the screens. It was the staff that chose the CTouch 65” interactive screens that we went with in the end.”

Chosen due to the simplicity of the software, a pre-standing relationship made IDNS an easy choice.

"I used IDNS at a previous newbuild school that I worked in and we had CTouch in that school. It was a real bonus from our perspective that United Learning Trust already used IDNS.” Headteacher - Alyson

The outbreak of Covid-19 provided potential set-backs for the completion of the project. However, working alongside the college, installations were delivered ahead of time.

“We asked IDNS if we could do it in a short space of time, which was a big challenge with so many rooms to complete. We had children on site, but worked with IDNS to develop a planned schedule so they could work on floors where t here would be no students. The biggest success of the installations was how well we worked as a team with IDNS. The original time of the install was going to cross into school time, but with us, the site team and IDNS all pulling together we were able to deliver the project in a much shorter time.”

Since working with IDNS, feedback from Marsden Heights College has been exceptional as Alyson and Luke explain:

“The greatest thing about IDNS is that having used them before, they were the only place I wanted to go back to. IDNS make you feel like the job, and the pride that they take in what they do, is more important than anything else – they set such high standards for themselves.”

“Working for United Learning Trust I work with a few primary schools and the first choice for the solution is always IDNS, turnaround times for everything is instant and they always offer the extra bits without charging for things like training and support. If there are any issues, they always drop everything to come and help.”
