The Priory Learning Trust

The challenge faced by education establishments to provide students with access to the most up-to-date technology has never been greater. To guarantee students always have access to the latest devices, The Priory Learning Trust rolled out the HP for Education (HPfE) programme to all of their six academies.

With our support, The Priory Trust have received £17,000 in cashback just this year alone, as Simon Merrick, Head of IT at The Priory Learning Trust, explains: “Prior to us becoming a Multi-Academy Trust, all of the individual academies were doing their own procurement. Since centralising, we now run a 5-year replacement cycle with our academies and through the HPfE cashback scheme have been able to save each of them thousands of pounds every year.”

Getting the right device at a price that fits the budget is always difficult when trying to roll devices out across an entire trust, something which we were able to help with: “IDNS provided us with several different devices for us to trial to see which was the best fit for the classroom. After rigorous testing, we settled on the HP 440G AIO. The device is robust enough to handle the day-to-day rigours of being used by students, whilst providing a spec suitable for a wide variety of learning settings.”

On completion of registration for HPfE, users are provided access to a dedicated portal where they can view, manage and track their cashback. This year has seen a huge revamp of the portal to make things even simpler.

“The HPfE online portal is fantastic and really easy to use. As someone working from a central point for the trust, I can see all the individual academies in the portal. It tells me their status, the value of their trade-ins and when the cashback will be available. This year was the fastest turnaround - everything was completed within 3 months of us starting the process.”

And it’s not just the cashback where the trust has benefited by using the HPfE programme: “Another big improvement this year has been how easy it was to return our old devices to HP. We didn’t even have to box them up, they just came and did everything for us which took a lot of the pressure off our IT teams.”

On completion of their purchase and rollout of the devices, the Trust has been able to put the cashback to good use across all of their academies: “We never use the cashback to fund the initial purchase so that it comes as a bonus at the end. After providing the cashback to the individual academies, it’s then up to them to re-invest the money in edtech."

With £17,000 received in cashback and all of their old devices recycled in an environmentally friendly way with no hassle to the trust, this is what Simon has to say about the HPfE programme and the role we played in helping: “It really is a no-brainer. Along with the funds and recycling through HPfE, this year IDNS have been brilliant in keeping us up-to-date with stock availability due to Covid-19, they’re always very competitive on pricing and with the 5-year warranty they provide for each device, it means we have peace of mind as well.”
